David Corenswet Steals the Show as the Perfect Superman in James Gunn’s New DC Movie

But it wasn’t all glamor and smooth sailing.
“When I first put on the suit, it felt a bit claustrophobic,” Corenswet admitted. “It was made for me when I weighed about 195 pounds, but I bulked up to nearly 240 for the role.”
The suit may have been snug, but Corenswet handled it like a seasoned pro. Thanks to his on-set dresser, Scott Hankins, he got in and out of the suit with ease—and a few well-timed breaks.
A Real-Life Superhuman Transformation
To look the part, Corenswet teamed up with celebrity trainer Paolo Mascitti and went through a hardcore five-month fitness journey. From intense gym sessions to strict meal plans, the actor transformed his naturally lean frame into pure superhero muscle.
“He worked out two hours a day, several days a week—even during filming,” Mascitti said. “David took this role seriously. He wanted to deliver a Superman fans would believe in.”
And he’s done exactly that. From his massive shoulders to his confident, grounded presence, Corenswet might just be the most physically impressive Superman ever seen on screen.
