How to Train Your Dragon Live-Action Soars into Theaters — Now Showing

The dragon-filled world of “How to Train Your Dragon” is back. This time, it’s live-action. The global premiere is June 13, 2025. Directed by Dean DeBlois, who also directed the original trilogy, this reimagining has the same heart, humor and action fans love. Groundbreaking photorealistic visuals will transport you to the Viking world of Berk like never before. While the first two films were animated masterpieces, this new version will change fantasy filmmaking by combining CGI with live-action cinematography. It will be a wild ride.

Box Office

June 11, 2025: domestic opening weekend expected to be $70-80 million. The film has a $150 million production budget (before marketing) which is huge. Given the franchise’s enduring popularity and DeBlois’s track record (Lilo & Stitch and the original How to Train Your Dragon films were both critical and commercial successes) analysts are predicting a $300-330 million global opening.

Joining Thames is Nico Parker as Astrid Hofferson, Hiccup’s strong and loyal friend. She brings depth to the adventure
